Shipping is a crucial aspect of any ecommerce business. What you charge your customers for shipping may affect your conversion rates and the profitability of your business. Furthermore, ensuring timely and reliable deliveries is paramount in building trust and creating a positive buying experience. This chapter covers all facets of shipping and delivery and other specifics that you need to know when using Dropshipzone. Let’s dive in!
What is Postcode Zone Mapping?
To make shipping easier and more precise for both Suppliers and Retailers, Dropshipzone now provides tiered shipping rates across three templates: Standard (16 Zones), Defined (34 Zones), and Advanced (115 Zones). Every Australian postcode falls within one of these zones, ensuring delivery costs are accurately tailored by location. With these three templates, suppliers can set different rates for the same product depending on the chosen template. This gives you greater control over shipping costs, delivers more competitive rates at checkout, and allows seamless syncing with major marketplaces like Amazon and eBay.
Important Notes:
- Lowest Fee Logic: When a postcode matches multiple shipping templates, the lowest fee will be automatically applied at order checkout to ensure you always receive the best possible rate.
- Undeliverable Logic: If you see a shipping fee of $9999 in the downloaded SKU file, it means that delivery is unavailable for all postal codes in that region. Even if other shipping templates show overlapping postal code areas as deliverable, the “undeliverable” rule will take precedence and override them. If you are willing to pay extra for delivery to that postcode, please contact your Account Manager for a custom shipping quote.
How do I access the Postcode-Zone Mapping Table?
The mapping table can be downloaded via the top-right corner of the My SKU page:

The file contains a list of postcodes and their corresponding zones, making it easy to figure out which zones each postcode belongs to.

How do I set up the Shipping Calculator for my Shopify store?
Dropshipzone’s Shopify app has an in-built Shipping Calculator to help Retailers calculate shipping charges based on their customer’s location and dimension and weight of ordered products.

- To set up the Shipping Calculator for your Shopify store, navigate to Settings within the Shopify section and click Other Rules. Here, you can set up your shipping settings.
- Move to the Shipping Method Rules tab and click the button next to Set up shipping setting to use this function.

Once the Shipping Calculator has been set up on your Dropshipzone Shopify app, please review your shipping settings in Shopify. If enabled, your store will automatically apply the lowest shipping fee from all available templates. This ensures your customers see the best possible rate at checkout.
If you encounter difficulty saving a rule, please verify if the carrier-calculated shipping feature is activated in your Shopify account. You must have the carrier-calculated shipping feature on your store’s Shopify subscription plan before connecting Dropshipzone’s shipping carrier to Shopify. If you don’t have this feature on your Shopify store’s subscription plan, then you can add this feature for a monthly fee or switch from monthly to yearly billing. For more information, contact Shopify Support.
